Long ago, in the distant past before the birth of man, demons lived in this world. Those we would now call gods were simply strong beings then, both good and evil, who had roamed every corner of the world. At times, they got along, and at times, they had sparred. And then, the earth and the seas were destroyed— or rather — they went through a rebirth. Millions of years passed, and now we have arrived at the present day.
As the years had passed by, many kinds of creatures appeared throughout the land. The stronger ones asserted their territories and began to protect the weaker ones dwelling on their lands. Then the most intelligent of these weak creatures, the humans, began to worship the strong. And at some point in time, these strong beings began to be known as gods.
As more time went by, humans only grew wiser and spread even further across the world. They then learnt of the many other gods that lived here and there. And so, they named the gods that protected them. The god that watched over this land, who was warm like the sun— came to be known as Soleil. The Kingdom of Soleil came to exist around five thousand years ago.
It was only a thousand years ago that the evil god appeared in the kingdom and fought with the god Soleil, who protected it. Was the evil god suddenly born from the demonic essence of that time, or had they been around for a much longer time? Or perhaps they had drifted in from afar? There were no records left on the evil god, so nobody knew.
Although both gods, Soleil and the evil god, had fallen after their battle, they did not cease to exist. Rather, they simply went into slumber, and every few decades the evil god would come back and try to destroy the Kingdom. Each time, humans battled him and somehow managed to weaken and seal him time and again. All the while, they prayed that their beloved god Soleil would be resurrected someday.
Whether they were born from the demonic essence or demon clearing, the demons’ attributes also varied, just like with humans’. There existed spirits with the dark attribute born from the demon clearing. However, the evil god sealed in the Soleil Kingdom also had the dark attribute. As a result, those humans with the dark attribute were eventually persecuted over time. It was believed that those with the same attribute as the evil god must be his brethren. That those with the dark attribute were evil and plotted to destroy the kingdom, just like the evil god.
This was the reality, the reason why we with the dark attribute had continued to be persecuted for centuries, and was something that had never been detailed in the game.
“……Hn, …Zagan…? ”
“My bad, Luca. I woke you up.”
The sun had yet to rise. As I decided to step out from under the covers, Luca, who had his arm wrapped around my waist, raised his head drowsily. He looked around the dim tent till his gaze finally landed on me.
“It’s not yet dawn. …Are you perhaps leaving already? ”
“Yeah, that’s the plan.”
I wanted to wear my clothes for that, but Luca had his arms around my waist, as if to restrain me. I was rendered immobile, with my elbows resting on the bedroll. He said something, but I couldn’t hear most of it over his breath.
“Luca? What happened? ”
“…It’s nothing. Take care, Zagan.”
Although I was a bit curious, Luca seemed the same as always when he raised his head, so I didn’t ask any further.

I think I missed a chapter–
uh..b-bussy?? HAhA n e ways- is luca reincarnated too or something? but who says that out loud-? whatever.
I’m wondering if Luca is reborn? He is literally the playable character from a game, and it’s a game where people would play multiple play throughs to see all the endings. Also, games can be restarted or backtracked. There are already obvious signs of this world being a game world (eg notices when unlocking new skills). If this theory is true, maybe Luca roughly knows what going to happen next. That’s why he keeps showing up where Zagan is. In the story Zagan just assumed his sister talked to Luca about him but he never confirmed it with either of them. Maybe he already knew. And maybe when Luca is muttering, “This time, I’ll definitely-…” it’s because he’s been trying to save Zagan from dying, but has been unsuccessful so far. Maybe when they first met it wasn’t love at first sight, but instead it was shock at meeting Zagan earlier than he thought he would.
If this theory works I’m not really sure what the role of the 3 gods play though. Them being original beings it could mean they are the players, the creators, or maybe something else entirely. Maybe I’ve just overthought this whole thing lol.
Or! What if he is the reincarnation of the sun god and zagan is the reincarnation of the moon goddess. What if ml regained his memories when he read the book! And when he said this time it means he won’t let zagan get hurt again! And much better! What if zagan is actually the moon goddess who became the evil god because of something. And soliel had to seal him because of it.

I read this chapter as soon as it came out and I came back to look at the comments… I’ve read them and some make some sense(ish)???? But did anyone think that maybe ML is trying to get MC pregnant?? I mean din’t MC mention that there was a way for males to get pregnant? Like, if in the game, the ML managed to keep the needed character (the alchemist) when trying to pursue the boy (that looks like a girl / the trap/ housekeeper). The alchemist would come up with something to help the boy bear a child for the ML… Plus if you look at it from this POV while reading this chapter…… Sooo now, I WANNA SEE A BUN!!!!!!!

ehm. i don’t think so? after all, luca would first need zagan’s consent. and knowledge. and zagan would then probably need to drink some potion or implant the artificial uterus in his body somehow. so… unlike with a woman, you can’t just ‘make’ a man pregnant without his knowledge and consent.
it would have been messed up if done to a woman and it would have been even more messed up to do it to a man without so much as warning him. and luca loves zagan too much to betray him like that.
…but he might like the idea of filling zagan up because it makes zagan give off the feeling of luca’s magic. luca is probably just marking his territory and making it obvious to himself, zagan and maybe the more magically sensitive people around, that zagan is his 😀

hmmm, but that last bit is kinda strange, isn’t it? i would almost suspect that luca is either a time traveller, reincarnator or has knowledge of all the different playthroughs – “this time I’ll definitelly…” – definitely what? make sure zagan doesn’t die? make sure zagan doesn’t fall to his own darkness? (not that there’s much of a threat of that happening in this version) i really wonder what’s going on with luca.

The legend kinda remind me of the original timeline where Zag an become a villain and took his sister, the heroine. It’s almost seem like the moon that was hidden by the darkness.
Also, I love his black hair but I can’t help imagining what if all dark element mages were actually cursed and his original hair should be..silver?

sounds like a theory I can follow! im wondering about the moon god, they seem more like a foot note, or if there was a mistranslation one upon a time and the evil god and the moon god are one and the same so the fact the evil god is sealed is why we cant see the moon…… okay my brain is wandering too far but ill stick with the reincarnation option
